Complete Guide for Assembling Metal Photo Frames

This step-by-step guide shows you how to assemble a metal photo frame, secure your artwork with spring clips, and install hanging hardware correctly. From inserting corner brackets to leveling the hanging wire, you’ll learn the proper method to build a sturdy frame and ensure your photo stays flat, secure, and ready to display.

1.Insert corner pieces

You get 8 L-shaped metal corner brackets with screws for each frame. Take these brackets. Divide them into four pairs. Then put each pair into the slots at the ends of each side of the frame. The brackets should fit tightly into the frame and not be loose at all. Make sure the metal corner brackets are securely in place, on each frame side.

2.Connect adjacent frame sides

To put the frames together you need to line up the sides that're next, to each other. Then you gently push them together using the corner brackets. If they do not fit well and it is too hard to push them you should loosen the screws a little bit about half a turn. After that you need to adjust the position of the frames. Then you can push them together slowly so you do not scratch the frames.

3.Form the frame shape

Push the connected sides firmly to create a right angle (do not tighten screws yet). Insert corner brackets at the diagonal positions and assemble three sides first, keeping the frame square.

4.Tighten and close

Once aligned, tighten all corner screws with a screwdriver. Slide in the final frame side to complete the rectangular frame.

5.Purpose of spring clips

Spring clips are really good at filling the gaps, between the frame and the artwork and the backboard. This helps to stop the artwork from moving or wobbling. The spring clips do a job of keeping everything in place so the artwork stays nice and steady.

6.Install spring clips

Press the curved part of the spring clip with your fingers, slide it into the inner slot of the frame, and release to secure the backboard.

7.Distribute evenly

Use up to 8 spring clips per frame—2 on each side—to ensure balanced pressure and a flat back.

8.Remove if needed

To replace artwork, gently pry the spring clip out with a screwdriver. Remove carefully to avoid damaging the frame or backboard.

9.Prepare hooks

Use 2 wall hooks for each frame.

10.Install hooks

Slide each hook into the frame slot, keeping it parallel to the slot and vertical to the frame edge.

11.Lock hooks in place

You need to press down hard on the hook until you hear a click sound. This click sound will let you know that the hook is fixed in place properly. The hook is securely fixed when you hear this sound.

12.Attach hanging wire

Tie one end of the hanging wire tightly to a hook with a secure knot.

13.Level and finish

Pull the wire to the second hook, tie securely, and adjust tension so the frame hangs level. Your frame is now ready to display!
